Bennington Project Independence
Bennington, Vermont

Centerline began its relationship with Bennington Project Independence (BPI) by completing a feasibility study for a new facility. The team worked closely with BPI staff and board members to understand the profile of BPI’s current and projected program participants, and to thereafter, assess BPI’s short term and long-term facility needs. As part of the feasibility and energy study, Centerline prepared a detailed development budget, researched an array of potential financing sources, and completed conceptual designs for the building and site.

Centerline was commissioned to complete the final design for the Dr. Richard A. Sleeman Center to hold BPI’s Adult Day Services program. It was determined that renovation and rehabilitation of the existing farmhouse and barn on the property was the best decision both for its environmental implications and to preserve the highly historic significance of the property. The barn was identified by DHP as one of, if not, the oldest standing barn in the State of Vermont, dating back to 1785.
