Ms. Ackerman is the Administrative Assistant at Centerline Architects. Barbara joined the team in 2020 and has significant experience in the art/design world. Barbara is a fine artist and graphic designer living in Bennington, VT. Barbara received a BS in Art Education from the University of Vermont where she studied painting with Frank Hewitt. She completed the MFA program at Johnson College/Vermont Studio Center, Johnson, Vermont.
At Centerline, she assists her coworkers daily, while monitoring projects, handling office correspondence and paperwork, and coordinating the staff designers’ schedules. Previously Barbara worked professionally as a designer in the Burlington, VT area before returning to Bennington to teach design at Mount Anthony Union High School. While in Burlington, Barbara designed for KSV, Seventh Generation, and JDK of Burlington, VT. While teaching design at Mt. Anthony, Barbara incorporated multiple interdisciplinary projects, Bennington as History, Bennington of the Future, that included collaboration with Centerline Architects, Southern Vermont College, Bennington College. Her emphasis on real-world design opportunities for students included banner design and print collateral material for the Bennington Museum’s Festival of Trees.
Barbara continues to create and exhibit her fine art. Her recent studies include painting and etching residencies at the Vermont Studio Center & and the Artist Association of Nantucket. Barbara’s recent exhibits include:
